The second round of the Rotax Challenge of Zone 2 also goes to archive. It was definitely a weekend that gave important signals to drivers and observers in all classes. The stage of the second round was the "Pista Italia" of Castel Volturno on the occasion of the City Cup, traditional agonistic event of early spring.
Despite the weather forecasts, we had a mild temperature and no precipitation all weekend.
For the record, in Mini we have witnessed the return to success Nicola Murano who conquered the Pole with his Parolin and the time of 36,432 adjusting Bruno D’Alelio (EKS-GCRacing85) and Giovanni Calandro (Alonso Kart- Team Calandro) while the first of the Under 10 and Raul Capuozzo on Birelart. In race 1 part well Murano, immediately followed by Calandro and Capuozzo that exceed D’Alelio at the start. For the entire duration of the Calandro test it was attached to the Murano waste that defended itself from the different attempts of attack of the rider on Alonso Kart. At the last lap Calandro is really very close to Murano and in agonistic trans slightly Murano swab but it is he who has the worst, goes in testacoda and loses two positions in favor of Capuozo and D’Alelio. To follow Lorenzo Bruno (C Leclerc – Laudato Racing), Gabriele Giannatiempo, Riccardo (U10), Lorenzo Trevisono and Leucio Fantasia to their first participation for 2024 . In race 2 Nicola Murano is still occupying the pole box and with a good start again takes the head of the Mini Rotax patrol followed by Capuozzo and D’Alelio. But Calandro does not agree and with a series of fast turns and two beautiful surprises he takes in second position trying to attack the leadership of the test several times without succeeding. In the meantime Capuozzo and D’Alelio continue their test a short distance from the first but, in the dubbing phase of a pilot, Capuozzo exits track and loses the third position and ends seventh. But surprises don't end here.... Calandro is penalized and relegated to the last place for technical difformity so all the drivers following him to the finish line earn a position. Under 10 wins Marano followed by Capuozzo. In the overall classification Murano leads with 212pt followed by Calandro at 205 and the pair Capuozzo D’Alelio appaiati a 199. In the Mini Under 10 Guide Capuozzo with 5pt of advantage on Marano.
In Rotax Senior Max pole is conquered by Vincenzo Spina (Tonykart) assisted by GCRacing85 with 34.479 followed by Francesco Perillo (TopKart) and Edoardo Picardi (BirelArt – Laudato Racing). At the start of race 1 Spina has a good point and manages to take the head without leaving it for the 25 laps planned, at the finish line follows Perillo and Picardi. In race 2 part well Perillo while Spina remains involved in a contact and after a few turns is forced to retire for mechanical failure. So Perillo wins followed by Picardi. In the General leads Perillo with 216pt followed only 2 points from Spina while third is Picardi with 204pt.
In DD back to success Francesco Palladino (C Leclerc) that already obtained with a good 33,843 shows to be determined to get the most out of the day. To the lights off race 1 part well followed by Cioffi (Masters) immediately surpassed by Kevin German (EKS-GCRacing85). But Palladino's race pass leads him to have a relative safety margin soon, but on lap 11 German is forced to retire for a technical problem. In race 2 we repeat the script with a good start of Palladino who never questioned his leadership. The general classification sees German in the lead with 216 points while Palladino follows with 164 pt due to an exclusion from the classification determined in race2 of Rd#1.
For the DD Masters the qualification smiles at Maximilian Water (BirelArt) that stops the time at 34.207 followed by Marco Valestra, Joseph Posillo and Raffaele Iervoli, all assisted by Laudato Racing. On departure race 1 Cioffi keeps his head while Posillo immediately surpasses Valestra and goes hunting for the race leader. At the 11th round Posillo strikes with decision and overcomes Cioffi, who, in a desperate attempt to resist, comes out on the lawn and goes into the warhead and is forced to retire. Vince then Posillo followed by Valestra and Iervolino. In race 2 it is Marco Valestra to have a good start and to take the head of the race followed by Giuseppe Posillo and Max Cioffi. The positions do not change during the very long 30 laps planned. In General Classifica conducts Valestra with 219pt followed by 10 lengths from Posillo and Cioffi to 16pt detachment. So, we archive the second round of Challenge zone that tells us about a leveling of the values in the race with a rapprochement of the drivers who chased the head of the charts.
