In archive, in a cloudy but dry Sunday at the end of summer, the second round of the National Trophy Rotax 2023, on stage at the 7 Lakes kart of Castelletto di Branduzzo.
We remember the new trophy format: in addition to the score achieved with the result of the area, we will sum up the scores obtained in Viterbo, Castelletto and Jesolo, with the discard of the worst result.
For the record of the races, the mini class was dominated by Nik Brecleij (Munaretto Performance), who got the pole position and then led both races from the first to the last lap. In race-1 Maj Rakusa tried to chase and then finished second on the podium, ahead of Paolo De Grandi (Irt Engines) who fought until the last for the P2. In race-2, Brecleij stretches immediately on the group, while Rakusa is the author of a bad start and slips in fourth position, behind De Grandi, who will close second, and to Giovanni Pistore, who fights for the third position until Rakusa passes him to recover the podium at 3 turns from the term. With this double, Brecelij climbs to the top of the championship and will be a beautiful fight with De Grandi until the last detachment of the last round of Jesolo. To emphasize the rapid growth of the mini class: at Castelletto there were 22 riders at the starting strips.
In Junior the pole position went to Lorenzo Giaquinto (MKC Motorsport), who preceded the leader of the Fracassi series (Infinity). Fracassi then imposed himself with authority in race-1, going to take the leadership after 4 laps of race and creating a slight gap between the drivers the fight for the remaining steps of the podium. Giaquinto will close in second position, while the team mate Natino will occupy the P3, while closing in fourth position Brando Badoni (Irt Engines) in front of the Slovenian Jure Levar. In race-2 is solo without discussion of Fracassi, who drives the race and closes in the head with wide margin. The fight between Giaquinto and Levar, with the latter, however, will be penalized by unconformed position of the muse and will allow the consistent Matteo Natino to take another podium. In the standings, Kiko Fracassi stretches almost decisively: it will serve a great twist to subvert the results in the last round of Jesolo.
Rotax Max, as usual, reveals the most numerous and exciting category of the weekend. In qualifying is still Elia Pappacena (MKC Motorsport) who gets the pole position on the razor wire with Pietro Pons (LKA Racing Team). Second row for the titan Giacomo Marchioro (Infinity) and Andrea Perduca (LKA). In race-1 is Pons starting better than everyone, with Pappacena trying to chase him. In the middle of the race Pappacena resumes the leadership, but in the body to body with Pons is Marchioro to take advantage to head. Pons tries to sew the gap in the final, but it is victory for the Sanse driver, on Pons and Perduca, who at the last corner managed to get the best on Pappacena. Closes the top-5 Fraboni (54SC), which deserves to have held for more than half the race the rhythm of the first. In race-2, it is Perduca to have a lightning snap taking the leadership, but few curves after the first twist, with Perduca forced to retire for a mechanical failure. Pappacena finds itself so in the head, followed by a surprising Giorgia Montrone, author of a great start. The goddess, however, today is not clerical with the leaders of the race, and thus Pappacena is forced to retire for technical problems. The breakdown created by the sudden slowdown of the Pappacena kart leads Marchioro to the head, in front of Trobec and Pons. The latter, however, manages in a few turns to return to the head of the race, position that will pass the victory of race-2 and also the leadership of the championship. In second position the always present Marchioro, with Trobec to close the podium.
In the queen class, the DD2, is solo by Leonardo Baccaglini (Drake Motorsport), who gets a clear pole position and imposes himself in both races. In race-1, after an initial flaming of Trolese (Ktre), Bertocco has the second position, while for the third place they fight Trolese and Michael Rosina (BS Racing Team), with the latter having the best on the driver padovano. In race-2 less emotions, with the first 3 that take without problems and maintain their positions, with the only Bertocco who seems to have the rhythm to stay with Baccaglini, but in the end he is forced to resist the superiority of the Drake driver. The podium is completed by Rosina, who loses the leadership of the championship just in favor of Baccaglini, and will certainly relaunch in that of Jesolo, with Bertocco who also proves very fast forming the perfect mix for a crackling finish. In the ranking reserved for the Masters, victory of Federico Rossi (54 Squadra Corse) in the final after Alessandro Tosi (MKC) had imposed himself in race-1.
