The Rotax Max Challenge Italia's Northern group just opened in the frame of the historic Pista Azzurra di Jesolo, which, as usual, hosts the opening round.
To be noted the good number of drivers enrolled and the protractions of the trend already seen in the 2022 season, with a growing number of drivers who chose the Rotax monobrand as the center of their karting activities this season.
In the class reserved for children, the Mini Rotax, the domination of the weekend was Paolo De Grandi (Krono Racing), already among the protagonists of the category in 2022, which preceded in both races of the weekend Nik Brecelj and Giovanni Pistore (Drake). Particularly exciting was race-2, in which De Grandi and Brecelj went on solitary escape and disputed the victory on the wire of the cents, but after some exchanges of positions at the beginning of the race, is De Grandi to cut the winning finish.
The Rotax Junior, where the poleman Kiko Fracassi (KSB Racing) was the author before a runway exit at the start of race-1, then a great comeback with victory in race-2. In race-1 the Slovenian Aljaz Vidmar (SSC), in front of the MKC Racing duo formed by Matteo Natino and Lorenzo Giaquinto, while, as anticipated, in race-2 was Kiko Fracassi to win right in front of Vidmar and Giaquinto.
Full grid regarding the Rotax Max, which saw the undisputed success of Elia Pappacena (MKC Monorsport), Junior winner in 2022 and immediately at ease in the top category. Pappacena has preceded in both races the San Marino Marchioro of the Infinity team (author of the pole position), Matteo Pianezzola (54 Squadra Corse) and Pietro Pons (LKA Racing Team). To these last two drivers, however, a penalty of 5" has been committed that brings on the lower hail of the podium a reassembly Marco Bernardi (Krono Racing).
Exciting also the Rotax Dd2, with Leonardo Baccaglini (Frake Motorsport) who seemed to start to a undisputed domain, with pole position and victory of race-1, but in race-2, partially complicit also a malfunction of the electrovalve of Baccaglini, is the roar of the veteran Michaele Rosina (54 SC) to prevail, in front of Cristian Trolese (Ktre) and the champion in charge In the Masters ranking, the weekend leader is Federico Rossi (54 Squadra Corse), back to the competitions this year after a long absence. Marco Griguol wins both heats in the Gentlman category.
For the Rotax Max Challenge Italia next weekend at the Morcone Circuit for the #3 round of the Centro-Sud area, while the North area will have to wait until 16 April, at the Franciacorta circuit, to rekindle the engines.
