As has been happening for several years, zone 2 – center-south offers the first opportunity to return on track and reopen the dances of the Rotax Max Challenge Italia for 2023. Guests of the Circuito del Sele for the 18th edition of the "Trofeo Alboreto" traditional opening event of the Campania competitive season, the group of drivers participating in the Trophy of Marca Rotax, has decidedly honored the event giving battle and show for the entire weekend. Everyone is aware that starting well is very important and putting a little 'fieno in cascina' (read "points in the standings") can be very useful in the continuation of the competitive season that already looks exciting.
For the record, let's start from Senior Max welcome to the Gerardo Casale (Birelart-Laudato Racing) new entry of the category that wins the maximum score in both races played.
In DD2 Masters to battle are the two veterans Gianluca Iervolino and Max Cioffi friends and teammates (Birelart – Laudato Racing) that give life to two beautiful races made of so many surprises but above all so much fair play. Waiting to be achieved, in the next tests, by other competitors, they "divisi" the loot winning each one of the two races in program but the "siparietto" of the last meters of race 2 deserves to be told: Cioffi comes forward at the last bend but, for a not better defined technical problem, slows down clearly until he stops at a meter from the finish line, Iervolino who perhaps did not think he deserved the victory also slowed down until he stopped on the finish line, at that point Cioffi fell from the middle and took him out from the track obliged, in fact, Iervolino to cross the line of victory. The embrace of the two protagonists on the podium has sealed a deep esteem between the two. The others, however, are warned, "the company no longer makes discounts to anyone" and from the next race will be battle to the last detached.
In DD a welcome return to competitions Tiziano Emanuele Arena (Birelart – Laudato Racing) after over a year of stop and new entry Kevin German (Birelart – GC Racing85) from Senior Max. Both presented themselves with a good technical and physical condition and, together with Francesco Palladino (Birelart – Laudato Racing) gave rise to a Sunday of competition rich in interesting sports content. For the record: in qualifying Palladino conquered the pole with 50.009 adjusting German only 61 thousandths and Arena more detached with 50.439. In race 1 good part Palladino immediately followed by German who tries to hang the head of the race but in turn must suffer the attack of Arena that in the face of a qualification subtone shows to be competitive in the tests that assign points. Palladino manages to take advantage while, for the second square, for a few laps, the bagarre rages. But in the last three laps, thanks to record times, German puts a second margin to conquer the second position with 1.771 delay on the leader.
In race 2 we still witness a good start of Palladino while German immediately loses the position and, in an attempt to stay glued to the first makes a mistake to the first detached that makes him lose more than three seconds. Arena tries to hang Palladino on a couple of occasions but at the end of the second lap accuses a delay of 5 tenths destined to grow round after round until 2 seconds and 2 tenth on the finish line. German, with a race in recovery manages to reach his antagonist at the last lap, but fails to pass it, the two cut the finish line flanked with only 20 thousandths of detachment. All this shows that despite the objectively reduced number of drivers, the level is always very high. We are sure that already from the next race we can count on a more nourished starting list and also in other beautiful battles.
We've left for the last time Mini Rotax not because it is less important, indeed. It is our intention to always give the right space to all who believe in Rotax philosophy and commit themselves thoroughly to honor its spirit.
Also here we recorded the welcome return to the area Sebastian Gerard Procida (LGK-Scococo Corse) and two new entries: Lorenzo Bruno (Birelart – Laudato Racing) and Lorenzo Trivisonno (Italcorse-Team Calandro) which have been added to Gabriele Giannatiempo (BirelArt) Nicola Murano (Parolin) and Giovanni Calandro (Parolin-Team Calandro) that gave birth to a really interesting race weekend, great road for a season that promises exciting.
The qualifying Giannatiempo realizes the new record of the circuit and marks a 55.747 adjusting Murano for only 29 thousandths, third Procida that accuses a delay of 5 tenths. Follow Calando, Bruno, and Trivisonno. Pronti via, part well Giannatiempo followed by Calandro who recovers two positions but Murano is not there and goes in search of the second position, test some rather shy attacks to which Calandro responds well but when to the detached of the straight of departure, at the beginning of the third lap, Murano attacks with great decision Calandro tries to close but from the contact has the worst, Murano and ends in the grass his test, from here part on recovery Giannati He reaches it and passes it two turns from the conclusion while Procida makes his race detached of a few tenths. Fourth is Bruno, fifth Trivisonno and Calandro is sixth for retreat. In race 2 part well Murano followed by Procida and Calandro that has an excellent point while starting from the sixth position but, to the first detached, also because of rubbers and cold brakes, there are a series of small swabs. To have the worst is Giannatiempo who parades at the bottom of the group then finishing in fourth place.
