RACE REPORT – ZONA NORD – RD6 -ALA

The rain and the changing conditions of the track were the protagonists of the sixth round of the Rotax Max Challenge Italia in the North, played on the track of Ala di Trento, in "Night Race" mode. The race therefore took place on Saturday's day, with free practice in the early afternoon, followed by chrono, race-1 at the sun, and race-2 under the artificial spotlight. Mixing the cards on the table then put the weather factor, which brought two violent showers to pour on the track during the afternoon and then putting the pilots to the test with variable and unpredictable weather conditions.

The Rotax Mini is the whole Irt Engines team to monopolize the first row in qualifications characterized by wet, with Brando Badoni to precede Gabriele Giribaldi. In the second row, the two men of the Natino and Giribaldi classification take. In race-1, played with dry, it is the Badoni-Natino duel to animate the race, with the two teams-mates of Krono Racing, De Grandi and Lavazza to fight instead for the third place, but detached 2" from the tandem of the head. Badoni manages to detach some tenth Natio, and thus wins the race on the driver of MKC and Paolo De Grandi. Race-2 is instead disputed with the wet asphalt, and with Matteo Natino who is forced to retire to the second lap, leaving field free in Badoni who must however see it with the furious remonta of De Grandi, who at 5 turns from the term manages to pass it to take the success of race-2, the second season. The third step of the podium had long been occupied by Andrea Lavazza, but a head tail a few turns from the term leaves third place to Nik Breceij.

Weather conditions swing also for the Rotax Junior, which celebrates the pole position of Nik Trobec (Munaretto Performnce) obtained on a wet track, in front of the leader Elia Pappacena (MKC). In race-1 Trobec's leadership lasts only 1 lap. On the dry track, in fact, are Pappacena and Fracassi to climb in the chair and to stretch on the group. Trocec slips in the middle of the group, while a third party is formed in struggle for the P3 composed by Dal Col, Giaquinto and Berruti, the latter author of a beautiful reassembly after difficult qualifications. At 3 laps from the end Berruti passes first Giaquinto and then Dal Col, but a mistake to the few returns from the conclusion brings him back to the fifth square, with Lorenzo Giaquinto who goes to take the first podium of the season. In race-2 is again the protagonist rain, Pappacena who immediately finds the escape, even if it is away approached by Trobec, which is particularly well with these conditions and goes to reassemble until the second place. A great race by Giulia Bernardi (Krono Racing) who gets his first podium in the category, while the sixth place of Kiko Fracassi brings Pappacena mathematically to the victory of the North Zone Championship.

Rotax Max full of twists and unpredictable results, such as the super first row registered Fd Motors, with Leonardo Rigon and Marco De Biasi able to play the hit of the Slick tires on track not yet perfect and with the big relegates in the recalculating rows. Race-1, after a first part of the race with repeated exchanges of position, sees the interruption with red flag for rain and, at shelter, is Michele Chizzali to take definitively the wide for the victory, with Marco Bernardi (Krono Racing) author of a great remonta until the P2, in front of Leonardo Principalli and Pietro Pons. Weather situation again uncertain in race-2, with several pilots who try the slick on still wet track. Among these there is Chizzali, who after a battle with Nicola Guerra (54SC), penalized, then, from a problem to a tire, wins again ahead Matteo Pianezzola and Leonardo Del Col, in reassemble after a first part of race that saw him in the center group. In the post race, Pianezzola is penalized by 5" for musetto off-site. They then climb Del Col (LKA) in second position and Mario Sidler (54SC) in third.

Swing of emotions and weather conditions also in Dd2, where Nicola Felappi is the first pole position of the season, on Trolese (Ktre) and Pagliarani (54SC). In the flying rain in which you race-1, is Claudio Pagliarani to make fruit his experience to take home the absolute victory, taking naturally also the first place of the Master category. The two MKC riders Gregorio Bertocco (the first "under") and Jody Lambrughi, second among the Masters, complete the podium. The dry asphalt of race-2 allows young lions to remake themselves, with Bertocco winning after passing Pagliarani in the first laps, in front of the reassembly Trolese and Felappi. Pagliarani and fourth, but still first of the overs, in front of Jody Lambrughi.
