There are 8 Italian drivers who will play the 19th edition of the Rotax Grand Finals.
The Rotax Italia National Final, played at the Circuito Val Vibrata last October 7, outlined the 8 Italian drivers who will compose Team Italia to the Rotax Grand Finals 2018, which will take place in Brazil from November 24th to December 1st.
The Rotax Grand Final arrives at the 19th edition. It is the biggest event of the year regarding world karting, it includes 360 drivers from all over the world, divided into 6 categories: Micro, Mini, Junior, Senior, DD2, DD2 Master. The selection criteria of the drivers are very strict: in order to be able to access this competition, you must have obtained prominent placements (typically first or second place) in the championship of your nation.
Let's get to know together the qualified Italian drivers at this great event.
Pierto Pons (Mini Rotax). The young Turin driver is the first participation in the Grand Finals. Moreover, it was also the first year of participation in the monobrand Rotax. He graduated Italian Champion 2018 of the Mini class after a tight battle with Giuseppe Forenzi. Surely he will be ready to give battle also in Brazil.
Marco Bernardi (Junior Rotax). Marco came to second place of the Rotax Italy trophy, matching the result of 2017. Equipped with extreme regularity and excellent cleaning of driving, in the last edition of the World Championship failed to center the final due to the inexperience and some unfortunate episodes. This year, much more in shape and with a great season behind it, will be among the protagonists of the Junior class.
Elia Galvanin (Junior Rotax). For the second year in a row, Elia is the Junior class morningr. During this season he won both the National Trophy and the Super Cup Rotax. Second participation in the world for Elia, after the unfortunate edition of last year will definitely try ransom.
Filippo Laghi (Rotax Max). In this 2018 Philip was the absolute protagonist of the most prestigious category of the monobrand Rotax. For him it is the third national title, after getting one in Junior and another in Senior. Already 4 participations at the Grand Finals, until now without too much luck. We hope that the Brazilian edition will be the ransom.
Damiano Marchesan (Rotax Max). The season of Damiano Marchesan was of some ups and downs, but when he hit, he really hurt his competitors of the Senior class. His Rotax Super Cup 2018, as well as 3 other statements during the season. It will certainly be to keep an eye on, as it has a deep knowledge of the Sodì chassis with which it will run in Brazil, and this could bring it among the absolute protagonists of the race.
Claudio Pagliarani (Rotax DD2). Claudio is undoubtedly the most titrated driver of the monobrand Rotax. Five tricolor titles for him, 6 holdings at the Rotax Grand Finals. This year, a few races but of the highest quality, bringing home the Rotax Super Cup with full score. Without a doubt one of the world favourites of the DD2 class, also strong in the top-10 in the 2017 edition.
Cristian Trolese (Rotax DD2). It is undoubtedly the surprise of Team Italia. With only a few competitions in the category, Cristian surprised everyone by winning the Italian title of the DD2 class. We remember Trolese champion in 2013 in the Junior class who earned him participation in the Grand Finals in New Orleans.
Fabio Cretti (Rotax DD2 Master). Fabio is the tricolor sample of the dd2 Master, the class reserved for over 32 drivers. He has demonstrated an excellent performance in the course of the season in every condition, which earned him the title and its participation in the world. Certainly to keep an eye on.
