Also for 2024 the first phase of the center-south challenge goes to archive. On the circuit of Casaluce, in fact, on the occasion of the traditional Summer Cup, he competed for the seventh and last round.
The great heat was an element that, as often happens in zone 2, characterized the weekend.
The chronicle tells us, once again, of a race fought in Mini while for the senior max and DD2 Masters to win both tests are the color holders of Laudato Racing respectively Edoardo Picardi, which consolidates its second place in the class and Marco Valestra who, instead, won the first place in the general.
But now we talk about the Mini: Meanwhile the Rotax movement welcomes two new entry Domenico Nunziata and Vincenzo Tomas Posillo (U10) that only recently have matured the decision to compete in the Rotax Trophy going, then, to join the group. Certainly having had a participation that allows us to place in the general rankings 13 drivers is reason of great satisfaction for the entire movement, especially in view of the fact that the drivers are all bells and therefore coming from one region. All this is a great path for the next season and also a hope to get good results in the upcoming tests at the end of the season.
But let's go back to the race record. During FPs Lorenzo Bruno has always given the impression of having a, albeit minimal, advantage on its competitors, advantage that has been realized in qualifying where the partenopeo driver has obtained pole with 57:425 (new record of the track) anticipating only 62 thousandths the under 10 Raul Capuozzo. They follow, about four tenths, Bruno D’Alelio and Nicola Murano already winner of the zone title. Complete the grid Domenico Nunziata, Riccardo Marano, Vincenzo T. Posillo and Domenico Mazza.
At the start of race 1 is immediately big bagarre and the poleman finds fourth while it is Capuozzo (later penalized for irregular departure) that takes the head of the race followed by Murano and D’Alelio. The four proceed for a few rounds in the order but the detachments are more and more exigeous and already on the fourth lap Capuozzo must give way to the leadership in Murano, in the next lap is Bruno who goes under and surpasses D’Alelio and then Capuozzo. For the rest, Nunziata closely follows the quartet without actually being able to hook them. Everything lets predict that the last laps will be glowing, Lorenzo Bruno approaches in a decisive way to Nicola Murano, tries the overtaking to the central hairpin but can't pass and lose a few meters, but can remake himself below and overcome Murano that there is and returns the overtaking. During the last lap he defends himself from the different attempts of overtaking by Lorenzo Bruno that the chess flag is second behind Murano for only 44 thousandths. Behind it does not happen much, D’Alelio is attached to the drains of Capuozzo but fails to overcome. So much grit, so much bagarr and a lot of work for the race direction and for sports commissioners who in the end write the order of arrival penalizing Capuozzo and Murano. He then won Bruno followed by D’Alelio and Nunziata.
In race 2 Bruno starts well followed by D’Alelio, Murano and Capuozzo but already during the first round Murano takes back the second square going immediately to the attack of the leadership. In the second round an accident puts out Capuozzo and D’Alelio. In the lead the first two are practically attacked and the race proceeds with repeated attacks, surprises and countersorpasses. In the last round, Murano seems to be able to take his lead to the rival, but in the final curve Bruno manages to get inside and out with a better inertia that leads him to win for only 16 thousandths. Thanks to the results of today Bruno climbs second place of the general won by Murano, third Gabriele Giannatiempo. Behind it is Nunziata to have the best conquering his first podium already in the debut race to follow the other esordiente Posillo who squares fourth recovering 4 positions. For Under 10 the podium says Posillo, Marano, Mazza While Capuozzo, who had already won the Zone 2 Challenge with two advance races, wins race 1 and makes a nice 555, full score.
Now, at the end of the Zone phase you look at the other two stages of the National Final of Castelletto and Franciacorta. Do not forget the Open race scheduled in Sarno on September 15, the World Championship preparation race scheduled on the Naples circuit from 18 to 26 October 2024.
