And so the south-central zone season of the Challenge Rotax ends. On International Circuit Naples of Sarno, on the weekend just past, the sixth and last act of the zone phase has been staged. The frame was the XXIV Pagliuca Trophy, the traditional summer appointment of the Campania Karting. Despite some results were influential on the final result we witnessed a series of beautiful races also thanks to a track that as usual gives thrills to drivers and not only.
For the record, we're leaving the mini. Nicola Murano closes with a splendid full score the season thanks to the 12 wins on 12 races played. But the race was not easy for him: in qualifying Lorenzo Bruno scores his first pole, warning everyone else. But his departure in race 1 is not the best and is immediately surpassed by Murano, Giannatiempo and, in the next laps, by D’Alelio. More delayed Marano while Trivisonno stops for technical problem. The first four remain glued to each other by showing a great balance and only at the last turn Bruno manages to overcome D’Alelio and take the third position.
In race 2, at the start, Murano immediately takes the command of the operations while behind him a unleashed D’Alelio manages to reach the second position giving also the feeling of being able to insidiate the head of the race but the others are not there and remain there to look for the way to overcome. In fact, at the last bend Gabriele Giannatiempo finds the space to slip and behind him also takes advantage of Lorenzo Bruno who takes the third step of the podium to the damage of a Bruno D’Alelio who appeared in great growth. The first four arrive in 5 tenths to prove that the race was balanced and compelling.
For the classification of zone 2, as said wins Murano, Giannatiempo takes the second port while the absentee Calandro is placed third.
In the Max we record a new entry that immediately comes with a win in race 2, Edoardo Picardi , but let's go by order. In qualifying and in race 1 is Vincenzo Spina who takes the P1 while Gerardo Casale is second and Picardi third. With this result Spina would have put in safe the first place of zone 2 if it had not turned out not appearing in pregrid for race2. Picardi wins also taking advantage of the breakup of Casale.
In DD2 Francesco Palladino in qualifying brings the new record of the track to 57,449 and conquer the pole followed by German, Arena, Cioffi (DDM) and Iervolino (DDM), in race 1 good part Palladino while German loses the moment and is anticipated by Arena but soon it returns in second position but never manages to approach the leader of the category. In race 2 the script at the start is the same with Palladino who goes in the lead followed by Arena but already in turn 2 German recovers the second square and throws his challenge glove to Palladino who manages to keep behind his competitor thanks to a more constant and fast race pace and to German not enough the best lap of race to make him have more luck. Third at the finish line Tiziano Emanuele Arena. The order of arrival reflects the final classification of zone 2: Palladino, German, Arena and then the absentee Sessa.
Behind them in race 1 is Massimiliano Cioffi to win the first position while in race 2 both drivers are disqualified for "excess of Fair Play", neither of them wanted to arrive before the other and stopped on the finish line. The race manager did not want to hear reasons and disqualified them. However Cioffi is first in the south center area followed by Iervolino.
Now drivers, their teams and service Laudato Racing and GC Racing 85 enjoy a few hours of well-deserved relaxation and meet for national final 2 at Castelletto di Branduzzo on September 17.
