The second round of the Rotax Max Challenge Italia area North 2023 has just ended, with a record number of participants: 100 drivers have given battle at Franciacorta Karting in a sunny spring Sunday.
On the shields the Rotax Max, which with 42 drivers at the start, must resort to the "heat" system to define the 36 drivers who will take part in the final. We remember that, as from regulation of the trophy, both pre-final and final assign egual score, equivalent therefore, to race-1 and race-2.
In the Rotax Mini it is immediately a challenge between poleman Andrea Lavazza (Krono Racing) and Nik Bercelj, who prove to have a slightly higher pitch than the competition. In Race 1 the two are protagonists of an intense battle in the first laps, which ends with the victory of Bercelj, with slight margin on the rival. Third place for the Helvetic Leo Gonzalez who manages to have the best on Iven Moussavi (LGK Kart). In race-2 he immediately manages to make selection Bercelj, which goes immediately on the run leave Lavazza to fight with Gonzalez for the second position. Fourth place for the winner of Jesolo, Paolo De Grandi, who with a somewhat undertone weekend loses the leadership of the championship in favor of Bercelj.
In the Rotax Junior the absolute dominator was Lorenzo Giaquinto (MKC Motorsport), who, after obtaining the pole position, masterfully conducted both races from the first to the last lap, both times ahead of the Energy of Brando Badoni (Irt Engines) and Diego Triggianese (FooDrivers). Particularly fought race-2, where the fight for the second place was decided only in the final round, with Triggianese testing the attack on Badoni, however, having to settle for the P3. With these two statements, Lorenzo Giaquinto firmly leads to the North Zone ranking.
In the two qualifying groups of Rotax Max the two drivers of the LKA Racing team, with Andrea Perduca who wins the pole of group A and Pietro Pons that prevails in group B. In the first elimination heat the success goes to Pons, in front of the color holders of the team Infinity Giacomo Marchioro and Nicola Guerra; in the second heat is the Swiss Tom Mulher to prevail after the unfortunate withdrawal of the leader Perduca for mechanical problems a few meters from the finish line. In the last heat, the A-C, Pons still wins after a nice duel with War and Mulher. The classification after the heats, which assigns points comparable to race-1, marks the victory of Pietro Pons, in front of Giacomo Marchioro and Nicola Guerra, with the top-5 completed by Marco De Biasi (Fd Motor) and Alessio Deri (infinity). In race-2 we witness a spectacular duel between Nicola Guerra and Pietro Pons, with the two who exchange positions several times, until a bad accident at Alessandro Tecchio (54SC) forces the race direction to freeze positions with the procedure "Slow". In the last two rounds with green flags, a very cold war manages to keep at bay Pons and Mulher, which will close so on the podium. Fourth at the finish line, the San Marino Marchioro, who becomes leader of the North Zone ranking.
Beautiful and exciting also the queen class, the Rotax DD2, with the pole signed by Daniel Giliberti (infinity) and with race1 rich in emotions and surprises, with Cristian Trolese (Ktre Race) who manages skillfully to dig a small gap after taking the position as leader on the first lap. The fight for the second position is very tight between Loacker, Giliberti and Bertocco, with the latter taking the P3 on Giliberti, which is then surpassed also by a Rosina in remonta. On the penultimate lap Bertocco also manages to pass Loacker to inharsi then in P2 behind the winner Trolese. In race-2 protagonist is Leonardo Principalli (MKC Motorsport) who, taken fifth, is the author of an impressive comeback that will take him first to climb Bertocco, for the second place, and then, on the last lap, also Loacker. Prinicpalli, however, is relegated to the P6 post-race for the incorrect position of the spoiler; the victory is therefore for the Swiss Loacker in front of Bertocco and Trolese. A bitter weekend for Michaele Rosina, who after the great victory of Jesolo, does not go beyond the P9. On the Masters chart, Domenico Palumbo scored the victory in race-1, and veteran Cristophe Adams in race-2.
Next appointment for Rotax Italy on 14 May in the circuit of Viterbo, also valid as the first test of the National Trophy 2023.
