RACE REPORT – ZONA NORD – RD5- CASTELLETTO

Weekend of very hot race in that of Castelletto Di Branduzzo, with temperatures above 36C and asphalt consequently rovent. This mix of factors, combined with a good participation of drivers to hold high level of competition, made the weekend extremely difficult for drivers, teams and professionals.

GARA CRONACA

He is the leader of the Matteo Natino (MKC) championship to rub faster than everyone in the Rotax Mini: it is his pole position with a nice gap on the first of the trackers, Brando Badoni (Irt Engines). In the second row, Paolo De Grandi (Krono) and Pietro Lilli (LGK). In race-1 Badoni is set off, with Natino slipping third, behind De Grandi. Badoni tries to stretch, while the fight for the second position becomes more and more tightened, with Natino who overrides De Grandi and launches the pursuit of Badoni. However, there is not enough time to try an attack and so Badoni cuts first the finish line, winning the fifth heat success of 2022. They follow Natino and De Grandi. In race-2, Natino has a better start, while Badoni has to watch his back from De Grandi. The Krono Racing driver successfully tries to overtake round 4, but the bagarre takes advantage of Natino who will lead the race in looseness as leader. The first two positions are safe, while at the last lap, Pietro Lilli attacks Badoni at the "Omega" and passes it, but the counter overtaking does not delay to arrive, with Badoni who resigns third to the detached lake. Vince Natino, who consolidates the position as leader of the general, in front of De Grandi and Badoni.

Junior Rotax's absolute dominator is Elia Pappacena (MKC), which detaches a pole position "monstre", while Kiko Fracassi (Infinity) flanks it from the second box. The second row is completed by the two Matteo, with Berruti (LKA Racing Team) just in front of Montrone (IRT Engines). In race-1 Pappacena immediately flies, for a solo escape to the finish line. Behind him, Berruti is able to surprise Fracassi for the P2, but at the end of the first lap the Infinity driver returns to second place, with Berruti losing the position also from Montrone. At around 3 Berruti passes Montrone and starts firmly in third place, while Montrone loses positions also from Giaquinto and Santese. Vince Pappacena on Fracassi and Berruti. The race-2 script is the same, with Pappacena winning with an escape from the start, and Fracassi who manages to keep at distance Berruti and Giaquinto, who arrive in pairs on the finish line, with the South Tyrolean driver who will then have to take a penalty of 5" for irregular position of the musetto, thus leaving the fourth place in Santese and the fifth in Montrone. For Pappacena are another 110 points, which could take him to the next round to Ala di Trento at the arithmetic closing of the championship.

Again a very significant presence of drivers in the Rotax Max, also this weekend at 32 members. In qualifying is the Sanmarinese flag driver, Giacomo Marchioro (Infinity Racing) to win the start at the pole, flanked by Pietro Pons (LKA Racing Team) at only 7 thousandths of a second. In the second row we find Marco Bernardi (Krono) and Leonardo Tiozzo (Ktre), while the leader of the classification Leonardo Prinicipalli took sixth. At the ready-way Pons manages to start better than Marchioro and to start immediately at the top of the race. The first two try the forward, also taking advantage of the bagaring behind them, but the Pons step soon turns out to be faster and will allow him to dig away the decisive gap. First cut the finish line Pietro Pons, followed by Marchioro and Bernardi, who had the best of Chizzali and Prinicipalli for the fight to the podium. In race-2, Pons immediately takes off, with the fight that is instead fierce behind him: Bernardi succeeds in overcoming Marchioro and, shortly after, the same thing will do Principalli. On the fifth lap, Prinicpalli's attack on Bernardi is ripe: the championship leader passes in second position, but the gap from Pons is almost two seconds, making it very difficult for the Swiss driver to sew the tear. He wins Pons again, in front of Principalli and Bernardi, while Leonardo Tiozzo and Michele Chizzali close in top-5. Pietro Pons becomes the first driver to win 4 races in this 2022, but the low level of performance does not currently reward his ranking. Constancy instead

The Rotax Dd2 celebrates Leonardo Baccaglini’s new pole position (Ktre), but this time the distances are much closer: his team mate Crisitan Trolese is only 8 thousandths from him. In the second row we find Gregorio Bertocco and Patrik Marchetto. In race-1 everything extremely regular, with Baccaglini that immediately goes to Trolese and Bertocco, who close in order the heat. It is in race-2 that however we witness an almost unusual show for this year’s dd2, usually monopolized by Baccaglini. Bertocco puts a lightning start on his head, followed by Trolese and Baccaglini, this time he left not well. After 6 laps, Trolese attacks Bertocco and in the fight also joins Baccaglini, who claws the second position and hunts for the most experienced team mate. This time, however, it is the veteran who prevails on the young lion: Trolese returns to victory in front of Baccaglini and Bertocco. Baccaglini can still be widely satisfied with the weekend, since the ninth seasonal victory obtained in race-1 has mathematically handed him the North Zone 2022 title. In the Master class, a nice duel between Jody Lambruchi and Alessandro Tosi, with the two drivers of the Mkc who win a heat at the head.
