The Pomposa plant, which just a few weeks ago celebrated the 62 years of history, hosted the second round of the Rotax Max Challenge Italia 2022 for the North. Weekend of race with purely spring weather, sunny but with swinging temperatures and cold wind that conditioned the day on Sunday, becoming an extra variable on a track already extremely technical.

Two tenths separate the first 3 riders of the Rotax Mini, with the indent Pietro Lilli (LGK) who signs the pole position, flanked by Matteo Natino and Paolo De Grandi. In race-1 we witness a great start of Natino, who manages to pass the poleman Lilli on the first lap. However, Natino’s leadership has limited duration, as shortly after, Lilli will be able to slip into curve 1 to recover the first position. New exchange of courtesans few turns after, than the against overtaking of Natino to recover the leadership. The first two stretch slightly over the rest of the group, with Lilli exploiting his strength at the bottom of the straight to recover, this time in a definitive way, the head position. For the third position the fight between the teammates of the Krono Racing Team, with De Grandi who has the best on Lavazza. Race 2 will be full of emotions and probably the most of the race of the whole day. At the end of the traffic lights we have a mountain start of Paolo De Grandi, which takes the first position, while the poleman Lilli slips third, behind Natino. After a couple of regular laps, Natino tries to get under De Grandi, dragging behind Lilli, who gets more and more insidious behind him. Not far from the trio of head, also an excellent Andrea Lavazza, firmly in P4. In the middle of the race, Natino breaks the Hindus and tries the attack in curve 10, and in the intersections of trajectories has the worst Pietro Lilli, who exits off track and loses 3 positions. The Rotax Junior sees as a weekend leitmotiv the duel between Elia Pappacena (MKC) and Kiko Fracassi (Infinity Racing), winner in Jesolo. In qualifying he has the best Helvetic driver, with a very narrow margin on the rival, while the third row is occupied by Matteo Berruti (LKA Racing Team) and Lorenzo Giaquinto. Few emotions in race-1, with Pappacena that starts well leads the race always in the head, with Fracassi that in the final approaches slightly, but never enough to be able to attack it. Third place, more detached for Berruti, author also of a regular race. In race-2 the pitch for the head is the same, with Pappacena leading from the first to the last lap, winning the race on Fracassi, which remains in the head of the championship zone. The emotions come from the duel for the P3 between Giaquinto and Berruti. The latter tests the overtaking at 6 laps from the term, but ends wide and allows Giaquinto to stretch. However, Berruti’s stubbornness bears fruit at the final round, where a small Giaquinto error allows Berruti to approach and strike an attack at the last bend: the overtaking goes to a good end and the third step of the podium is for the Ligurian driver.
The most numerous category of the weekend is once again the Rotax Max, which with its 30 members gave rise to competitions rich in battles. The pole position is marked by Pietro Pons (LKA Racing) in front of Leonardo Principalli (MKC), while in the second row we find Michele Chizzali and Marco Bernardi (Krono), but it is shocking to note that the first 12 drivers are enclosed in only 257 thousandths! In race-1, the first row took well, while there were at once a few runway exits among the top drivers, including Nicola Guerra, Luca Zamburlini and Leonardo Del Col, who took the first rows and are now forced to recover. In the lead of the race stretches the duo Pons-Principalli, while in the middle of the race takes place the first stage shot, with the leader of the area leader Giacomo Marchioro (Infinity Racing) who retrocede in the bottom of the group for a contact. On the other hand, Luca Zamburlini recovers from the rear, who is the author of a race all in remonta until he closes in fourth place. In the head instead we have the surprise of Principalli to the damages of Pons in the course of lap 2, but the Turinese is able to return the shot a few turns later, going to win the race with a slight margin on the opponent. Third, however 6" is Marco Bernardi (Krono Racing). First rounds of race-2 very intense. Pons and Principalli leave well and repeat the duel seen earlier, but this time Pons manages to defend himself better and immediately replicate the attack of the Swiss. In the Rotax DD2, class queen of the trophy, another seal of Leonardo Baccaglini (KTre) on the pole position, in front of Gregorio Bertocco (MKC) and Patrik Marchetto (54 SC). Race-1 without too many results for the first two positions, with Baccaglini leading the whole race tending to distance Bertocco. On the other hand Claudio Pagliarani (54SC): the expert driver from Rimini manages to climb up the china from the bottom of the grid until closing the race to the third place absolute, first of the Master class. In race-2 is Pagliarani show in the first laps, which after a lightning start takes you to the head, while he is author of a bad first lap Baccaglini, which shows third. The race has its key moment at lap number 6, when Baccaglini attacks both Bertocco and Pagliarani to take his lead, with Bertocco trying to chase him, but fails to contain the force of the Ktre pilot who wins the race with a good margin.
