The circuit of Siena hosted the National Final of the Rotax Max Challenge Italia 2020, the final event of the trophy that assigns national titles and tickets to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final 2020.
The tension of the competition was accentuated by the very uncertain weather conditions, which re-shaped the cards, especially in the afternoon of Sunday, when the rain began to descend on the circuit making it necessary to mount the rain tires.
In the Rotax Mini he dominated the weekend Davide Bottaro (Irt), who after getting the pole position in the time trials, managed to impose himself in all three races. Brando Badoni (FooDrivers), a direct competitor to the title, had to settle for the square of honor both in race-1 and in race-2, while in race-3, with wet track, it was Nik Trobec to insidiate near Bottaro, passing it in the first stages, but without being able to maintain its pace in the second part of the race. Lorenzo Lanzara, who finished third in race-2 and fourth in all the other races of the day. Davide Bottaro won the Rotax Italia 2020 title and won the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final.
The Rotax Junior definitely had a more swinging and uncertain trend. The weekend begins under the sign of Alberto Kiko Fracassi (Lka Dannic), who wins the pole position with a considerable advantage on the two favourites of the eve, Leonardo Baccaglini (54 SC) and Andrea Giudice (FooDrivers). But Baccaglini’s standing expectations suffer a hard blow when at the start of race-1 he is immediately author of a runway that could cost expensive. After returning to the bottom of the group, Leonardo is the author of a great set that will lead him to close in top-5; only the penalty of 5" for the spoiler out of position will force him to the eighth place. In front of it is an escape and victory of Fracassi, while behind it is tightened the fight between Judge and Andrea Perduca, with the first that prevails for a few cents on the finish line. Race-2 is played in uncertain weather conditions, but then it is the rain to prevail. The winner is always the same: Fracassi first cut the finish line, this time in front of Baccaglini and Leonardo Del Col (Ktre). They are instead authors of runway exits Andrea Perduca, Martino Zorgno and Emanuele Marotto, who could say their in the standings. In race-3, still played in wet conditions, is the absolute domain of Leonardo Baccaglini, who places the winning leg and takes 8" Kiko Fracassi, while third concludes Andrea Giudice, who after an unfair start manages to get rid in the final of the duo Ktre Del Col – Perinazzo to get the third place. The Rotax Max sees a Nicola Guerra (Lka Dannic) in a splendid form, which marks an amazing 42.158 (record of the circuit) in qualifying, which is worth the pole position. The team mate Lka Jacopo Sisti is on his side. Third the defending champion Elia Galvanin (KSB). Race-1, played on the dry side, sees a train of 4 drivers take off. Taken not very well, Sisti recovers positions until he takes his head, but at 5 laps from the end he suffers the fierce attack of War, which creates discord and also benefits Elia Galvanin, who will close second. Nicola Guerra wins over Sisti and Galvanin, while the eve favourite Michele Chizzali closes fourth. The rain conditions race-2 and race-3, while the fate of the war race is immediately conditioned by technical boredoms that force it to start from the bottom of the grid. Galvanin takes the reins of the situation, but then Sisti dominates both race-2 and race-2, conducted masterly from the first to the last lap. Galvanin and Vezzelli (LGK) follow him, the latter author in race-3 of a great race, closed in second position, but never really sisti, who wins with merit. In the standings Sisti takes the tricolor title, with attached world ticket. While Bertocco is the author of an unhappy start, which leads him to lose positions, even more unhappy is the fate of Michaele Rosina, immediately forced to retire and to see his chances of ranking. Nicola Felappi (Honolu Racing) is the author of a great start of the race, which sees it in second position, until Michele Candela (Laudato Racing) prevails over him. Munaretto wins in looseness on Candela and Bertocco, while a contact with the defending champion Trolese (ktre) puts Felappi a few curves from the term. Rosina's answer is not too late to arrive: in the rainy race-2 puts in play an inaccessible rhythm for all, recovering from the bottom of the classification up to the clear victory. Betrocco and Trolese close off behind him, while fourth is Fabio Cretti (Honolulu Racing), first of the Masters and author of a capital test. With 3 drivers still in full race to the title (Rosina, Candela and Munaretto) starts a race-3 under the conditions of the asphalt changing with a wet that goes away to dry. In this situation Luca Munaretto prevails, also thanks to the boredoms at the start of Michaele Rosina, which parades only tenth at the first lap and which then makes himself author of a great remonta, but not enough to close the gap on the African-Italo-South, which wins the national title.
